A slow cooked spicy minced beef bake to serve with plain boiled rice and a crisp salad.
Ingredients - serves 6
700g minced beef
25g knob butter
1 Chinese cabbage, finely shredded
2 large onions, finely sliced
500g peas
1-2 tsp salt
1 tsp cayenne
1 tsp turmeric
black pepper
2 crushed cloves garlic
1 tsp freshly grated ginger
150ml boiling water
Method
Pre heat the oven to 170°C
Melt the butter in a large casserole, then build up individual layers of cabbage, seasoned minced beef, peas and onions - repeating twice. Mix the spices with the boiling water and pour over then cover tightly with foil or lid and transfer to the oven for 1 1/2 - 2 hours. Serve hot over boiled Basmati rice.
