During cooking this pudding generates its own sticky sauce - a sure fire winner with the youngsters and young at heart
Ingredients - serves 4
75g melted butter + some for greasing
150g self-raising flour
25g cocoa powder
75g caster sugar
75ml milk
1 egg
100g soft brown sugar
300ml boiling water
Method
Pre heat the oven to 170°C.
Butter an ovenproof dish. Sift together the flour with half of the cocoa and mix in the caster sugar. In another bowl, whisk together the egg, milk and melted butter, pour over the dry ingredients and lightly mix to combine - do not overwork. Pour into the buttered dish.
Combine the remaining cocoa with the brown sugar and scatter over the surface of the pudding mixture - and now pour the boiling water over the back of a spoon onto the pudding! Carefully transfer to the oven and bake for 40 minutes or until the top of the sponge is cooked.
Serve immediately with pouring cream. |
